Baked Ziti with Plant-based Crumbles

Ingredients

  • BAF Plant Protein Crumbles – Beef-1½ pouches
  • Pasta, penne, whole-grain rich-2½ pounds
  • Tomatoes, diced, canned, low sodium -1 #10 can
  • Marinara sauce, low sodium (9 cups)- ¾ #10 can
  • Italian seasoning, salt-free-6 tablespoons
  • Mozzarella cheese, part skim, shredded-1¼ pounds
  • Parmesan cheese, grated-4 ounces

Instructions

  1. Measure 1 ½ quarts of hot water (minimum 150°F) into a container to rehydrate Beef Crumbles. Stir in 1 ½ pouches of Beef Crumbles. Mix until well-combined.
  2. Cover and let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Cook pasta according to manufacturer instructions. Cook al dente. Do not overcook.
  4. Preheat oven to 350 °F.
  1. In a 12 x 20 x 4 steamtable pan (4” full-size), add tomatoes, marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, half of the mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, penne pasta, and Beef Crumbles.
  2. Stir gently to mix well.
  3. Cover and bake at 350 °F for 30 to 45 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven and sprinkle on remaining cheese. Cover and place in warmer until cheese melts.

CCP: Heat to 135 °F for at least 15 seconds.

  1. Hold hot for service.
